Bowling Handicap Formula

Handicap = (Base Score - Average) × (Percentage ÷ 100)

Parameters:

  • Base Score: Reference score (typically 200-220)
  • Average: Bowler’s average score
  • Percentage: Handicap percentage (typically 80-100%)

For an average of 150, base score of 200, and 90% handicap: (200 – 150) × 0.90 = 45 pins handicap.

For an average of 175, subtract from 200 to get 25, then multiply by 90% to get 23 pins handicap.

For average 140: (200 – 140) × 90% = 54 pins handicap.

With average 165: (200 – 165) × 90% = 32 pins handicap.

For average 185: (200 – 185) × 90% = 14 pins handicap.
